2008 De Novo Poetry Contest
C&R Press (www.crpress.org), a
non-profit literary organization, is looking for the best manuscript from a
previously unpublished American poet (a U.S. citizen who has not published a
full-length collection of poetry before). We are looking for manuscripts
that exhibit striking language, memorable imagery, intellectual depth, and a
respect for diversity in all areas of life.
Please include:
- 55-85 page-manuscript (single-spaced)
- two title sheets (one with contact information,
one without)
- one-paragraph biography
- $20 entry fee payable to C&R Press ($25 entry
fee receives a copy of winning book)
- SASE for results
Guidelines:
- Submission of more than one manuscript is
acceptable; each manuscript must be submitted separately, each with entry
fee and SASE
- Please let us know immediately if your manuscript
is accepted by another publisher while under our consideration
- No revisions to submitted manuscripts will be
considered; the winning manuscript may be revised before publication
- Manuscripts may consist of poems that have been
published, but the manuscript as a whole must not have been previously
published
- Close friends, former students, and current or
former colleagues of the judge are ineligible
- Translations ineligible
- No faxed or emailed entries
- Winner receives $500 and 20 copies.
All entries will be considered for publication.

C&R Press (www.crpress.org)
is looking for manuscripts from published and unpublished authors alike that
exhibit striking language, memorable imagery, intellectual depth, and a respect
for diversity in all areas of life. Ultimately
we are interested in supporting the best work we can find.
Please include:
- 50-100 page-manuscript
(single-spaced)
- title sheet with contact
information
- one-paragraph biography
- $15 reading fee payable
to C&R Press ($20 reading fee receives a copy of this year’s selected
title)
- #10 SASE for results
(optional since results will be posted on our website as well)
Due
to the large volume of manuscript submissions for this series, we cannot return
manuscripts. Please do not include
any valuable material (photos, reproductions, etc.) as we cannot be responsible
for their return. In order to be
eligible for the 2008 Fall Poetry Series reading period, submissions must be
postmarked during October or November only.
The
selected title will be appear in 2009 under a standard C&R Press publishing
royalty contract. As a nonprofit
independent press, we work very closely with our authors in production and
marketing and take great pride in producing quality books in every sense of the
word.
